Alpine Clinic

The recipient of three design awards, the Alpine Clinic is a classic example of the marriage of sustainable and energy efficient design and strong aesthetic appeal.  Working with Lyman Millworks Construction Management and the clinic’s three orthopedic surgeons, Samyn-D’Elia Architects designed this medical facility that was awarded the coveted 2011 AIA NH People’s Choice Award for a commercial building and two Silver Awards from the Home Builders and Remodelers Association.

This much needed health care facility has been a welcome addition to the White Mountain area of the state.  Located in the center of numerous ski resorts, the three orthopedic doctors, well recognized for their specialties in sports medicine,  and offer a wide range of services right in the clinic, including MRI’s, X-Rays and physical therapy.

After entering into the reception area, the visitor is immediately put at ease with the warm atmosphere created by the wood post and beam frame and expansive views of the White Mountains.

The interior design for the medical facility won a 2001 HBRANH Silver Award.

Careful planning was required to accommodate the MRI equipment.  Samyn-D’Elia Architects worked with a superb engineering team to make this kind of imaging available.

Following green building design principles, the building was carefully sited to allow for full lower level exposure to daylight.  Sustainable and energy efficient practices were used with insulated concrete forms, stress skin panels and the Acadia heat system.  All these components contribute to the building’s energy efficiency and climate comfort.
